Research Overview

A central focus of the Osher Center is a translational research program that aims to better understand:

• physiological and psychosocial processes that support and characterize health and wellness
• how these processes breakdown with disease
• the impact of conventional and complementary and integrative therapies on these processes.

Taking advantage of the rich resources across multiple HMS-affiliated research laboratories, our collaborative research program addresses topics ranging from molecular and cellular mechanisms to patient outcomes to cost-effectiveness.

Our research is focused on the following broad thematic areas:

  • mind-body exercise
  • nutrition, supplements, and dietary intervention
  • musculoskeletal health
  • healthy aging
  • healthy lifestyle behavior change

This work includes the Mind/Body/Movement Lab led by Dr. Peter Wayne, the Mind-Body Research Programs led by Dr.s Gloria Yeh and the research program led by Dr. Howard Sesso.
