Manoj and Sunita Jain Endowed Lectureship in Jainism and Integrative Health, to be held in the Bornstein Amphitheater at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. A plant-based reception will follow in Carrie Hall from 3:00–4:00 pm ET.
This talk will feature distinguished speaker David Katz, MD, MPH, FACPM, FACP, FACLM, a globally recognized physician, nutritionist, and author who has made significant contributions to the Food as Medicine movement. This event is open to all and free to attend.
LECTURE
“Optimizing Nourishment for People and Planet: What We Know and How We Know It” will cover how optimizing diet quality for Homo sapiens can add years to lives, and life to years- and help preserve our climate, our planet, and biodiversity. This talk will explore how we know what we know, providing a basis for the robust and confident defense of salient principles of human nutrition.
It promises to be an outstanding first entry in this series, rooted in Jainism’s core values that promote human and planetary health, resilience, and an enhanced quality of life.

David L. Katz, MD, MPH, FACPM, FACP, FACLM
Dr. Katz is a specialist in Internal Medicine, Preventive Medicine/Public Health, and Lifestyle Medicine, globally recognized for his expertise in chronic disease prevention, health promotion, and nutrition. He is the founding director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center, past president of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and founder of the True Health Initiative and Diet ID, Inc.
