Description: For our February 2022 Grand Rounds, Dr. Spertus discussed the role of Integrative Medicine modalities within a dedicated multidisciplinary academic Integrative Medicine center, focusing on the incorporation of these modalities into primary care practice with an illustrative patient case. Neeti Jha, MD, was a discussant and the patient was present for the discussion.

Presenter Biography:

Dr. Spertus completed his residency in Family Medicine at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital Columbia University and a Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the Institute for Family Medicine, Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine in New York. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine, Integrative Medicine, and Lifestyle Medicine. He has additional training and certificates in medical acupuncture, clinical hypnosis, mindfulness-based therapies, and behavioral medicine.

Dr. Spertus now works at the Marino Center for Integrative Health with Mount Auburn Hospital and he is an Instructor at Harvard Medical School. He provides comprehensive integrative primary care as well as Integrative Medicine consults for patients interested in non-pharmacological or a more holistic approach to their illness. He believes Integrative Medicine approaches that treat the whole person are essential to both individual and population health.
