Presenter: Matt T. Bianchi, MD, PhD, MMSc is an assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, and the Director of the Sleep Division at Massachusetts General Hospital.   His research focuses on understanding human sleep, in health and disease, through a combination of diverse analytical methods and novel device technology, and encompasses the study of sleep architecture features that contribute to symptoms related to non-refreshing sleep, from both “trait” (inter-individual differences) and “state” (night-to-night variation in those with fluctuating symptoms) perspectives. Dr. Bianchi’s major clinical focus is currently on the two most common sleep disorders, insomnia and sleep apnea, with particular emphasis on the complex relationship between sleep physiology and subjective symptoms. Dr Bianchi has published in research topics spanning electrophysiology, statistics, decision theory, and sleep medicine.
