We invite you to join us on Tuesday, October 6 at 8:00am ET for our October Integrative Medicine Grand Rounds, featuring Chana A. Sacks, MD, MPH, who will delve into interventions to prevent firearm-related injuries. This event is open to all and free to attend.
LECTURE
Tens of thousands of people die each year from firearm-related injuries in the U.S.; twice that number suffer non-fatal injuries, and the effects of this violence ripple through families and communities. We will explore strategies to break cycles of violence, support families and communities affected by firearm-related injuries, and discuss specific actions clinicians can take to address this complex clinical and public health problem.
SPEAKER
Chana A. Sacks, MD, MPH is a general internist in the Department of Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and the Co-Director of the MGH Gun Violence Prevention Center. Dr. Sacks’ research focuses on intervention development to break cycles of violence – from supporting children whose parents were injured by a firearm to teaching clinicians how to talk with patients about guns. She is Editor-at-Large at the New England Journal of Medicine and Editor-in-Chief of NEJM Evidence.
