Presenter: Andrew Weil, MD, Founder and Director, Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine
Andrew Weil, M.D., is a world-renowned leader and pioneer in the field of integrative medicine. Combining a Harvard education and a lifetime of practicing natural and preventive medicine, he is the founder and director of the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, where he is a clinical professor of medicine and professor of public health. A New York Times best-selling author, Dr. Weil is the author of 15 books on health and wellbeing.
Presentation:
Dr. Weil will describe how he came to develop his philosophy of integrative medicine, from early interests in botany and mind/body interactions to experiencing healing practices in other cultures and working with practitioners of nonallopathic forms of medicine, leading finally to the founding of the first dedicated academic integrative medicine center to open in the heart of the medical campus of a major university. He will also explain why he believes integrative medicine will shape the future of health care.
