Joint Conference: Acupuncture, Oncology and Fascia
On Saturday, November 14th, 2015, the Osher Center convened an unprecedented gathering of three different societies with interests in integrative medicine.
The Society of Acupuncture Research (SAR), the Society for Integrative Oncology (SIO) and the Fascia Research Society (FRS) came together to co-host the one-day Joint Conference on Acupuncture, Oncology and Fascia. They brought together 10 international experts who shared the platform at the J. B. Martin Conference Center at Harvard Medical School.

The program, featured twelve plenary talks, lasting 30 minutes each, addressing the respective interfaces between Acupuncture and Oncology, Oncology and Fascia, and Fascia and Acupuncture. The conference culminated in a panel discussion with audience Q&A. This was followed by a ‘Think Tank’ the next day with the speakers. The aim was to put propose new areas of research that could be pursued based on the outcomes of the conference. (Stay tuned for more details.)
An Unprecedented Collaboration
The one-day joint conference aimed to synthesize clinical and basic science research that highlights the importance of connective tissue in cancer biology and the role of acupuncture in an integrated approach to health promotion and cancer prevention. Download the two-page conference overview here.
