Presentation Description:
Climate change is considered by many to be the greatest public health threat of our time, yet paradoxically the health sector is a significant contributor to the problem. Learn how climate change adversely affects human health, how healthcare delivery contributes to climate change, and how health systems are working to improve the health and wellbeing of patients and the planet.
Speaker Bio:
Dr. Gregg Furie is the Medical Director for Climate and Sustainability and a primary care physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and an Instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. In this role he works to prepare clinicians to address current and emerging health threats from climate change and to reduce the environmental impact of clinical care. He is a member of the Brigham Climate Action Council and the Mass General Brigham Climate and Sustainability Leadership Council. Dr. Furie graduated from Princeton University and Harvard Medical School, completed residency in internal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar at Yale.
