Do you suffer from persistent post surgical pain (PPSP)?
The Osher Center for Integrative Health at Mass General Brigham is conducting a clinical trial on yoga for persistent post-surgical pain (PPSP), a challenging condition that can last for months or even years following surgery. Yoga is a common mind-body therapy often used for different types of pain, and some studies suggest it may be helpful for individuals with PPSP. We’re
seeking volunteers for our research exploring if yoga can provide relief and improve well-being for those with PPSP.
You may qualify for the research study if:
• You had past trunk surgeries, such as thoracotomy, sternotomy, mastectomy and/or breast implant, open abdominal surgeries, and cesarean section.
• You are at least 18 years old.
• You have been experiencing persistent post-surgical pain (PPSP) for more than 3 months.
• You have access to reliable modes of transportation for study visits and yoga classes.
• You can confirm proficiency with the use of smartphones, computers, and/or tablets.
• You are fluent in English.
You will be expected to be in the study for 24 weeks (approximately 6 months).
What to expect:
• Three (3) in-person study visits at 221 Longwood Ave, Boston, MA, 02115 (approximately 90 minutes each visit). Each study visit will last approximately 90 minutes.
• In-person and virtual yoga or chronic pain health education classes. All of them are free of charge.
• Compensation up to $150 may be provided.
