Introduction to an evidence-informed integrative oncology clinical care model and how it is integrated with lifestyle assessment. As an increasing amount of data points to the importance of lifestyle factors in improving cancer treatment outcomes. We have incorporated lifestyle factor assessment as part of the standard of care in our clinical program, developing individualized integrative medicine prescriptions for patients to help support success in health behavior change and symptom management.
Speaker Bio:
Dr. Lopez’s primary clinical focus is providing integrative oncology consultations in the Integrative Medicine Center. He has served as co-chair for the MD Anderson Integrative Health Initiative, leading institutional efforts to support lifestyle education and modification in patients from active treatment through survivorship. He also serves as co-director for the bi-annual Integrative Medicine Program Workshop at M.D. Anderson, providing education to diverse learners about best practices for the development integrative oncology centers. His clinical and research interests span the areas of integrative oncology, supportive care and patient reported outcomes. He is currently on the Society for Integrative Oncology Executive Board as Vice President of Governance, also co-chair of the SIO Clinical Practice Committee, and member of the SIO Education Committee.
