A New York Times article by Gary Greenberg dives into some of the history of how the placebo effect lost its credibility in the conventional medicine arena; and the new research by Harvard researchers, Dr. Kathryn Hall and Prof. Ted Kaptchuk, that has helped placebo reenter this arena by proving and investigating the placebo’s physical and psychological effect.

Dr. Kathryn Hall is an Assistant Professor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and an Associate Molecular Biologist in the Division of Preventive Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She is also the Director of Placebo Genetics in the Program for Placebo Studies based at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School.

Ted Kaptchuk is Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Program in Placebo Studies at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He is also Professor of Medicine of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School.

Ted Kaptchuk will present at the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine Grand Rounds on December 4th, 2018. His presentation is titled, “Making Placebos Honest”. Event Info Here
